Warmth, Wellness & Community at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA!

Registration opens December 22 at 8:00 am for new programs starting January 5

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is offering a variety of new programs and returning favorites for the Winter session, which begins January 5, 2026. From gymnastics and dance to a variety of sports and enrichment programs there is something for all ages.

Registration for Winter programs begins Monday, December 22 at 8:00am and is open to active FSPY members. The Y’s Winter Program Session runs from January 5 – March 15, 2026. View all the Y’s winter offerings and schedules online at fspymca.org/brochures.

In addition to the session highlights below, the Y continues to offer a range of programs and services included with full membership such as: group exercise classes for all fitness levels and interests; lap swimming and water walking lanes; family swim; adult sports programs; open gym; special events, and more. Whether you are just beginning your wellness journey, caring for your family, managing a health condition or staying active later in life, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains is here to support you.

Preschool and Youth Enrichments: Does your child love to create, build, cook or bake? We have a variety of enrichment programs for all ages. The Y is offering many programs including Mini Music Makers (ages 3-5), Messy Masterpieces (ages 3-5), Recycling Art for Little Creators (ages 3-5), Wild Builders: Lego Animal Fun (ages 5-7), Fold & Fun: Origami for Kids (ages 5-7), Tiny Taste Makers (ages 5-7), *NEW* Minute To Win It: Lightning League (ages 8-11), Magic: The Gathering (ages 12-15) and many more!

Youth & Middle School Sports: You want sports? The Y has all sorts! For the Winter session, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is offering sports classes for ages 3 -5 including Preschool Basketball, Mini Ninja Warriors, Mini Floor Hockey and All Star Sports. There also are: Winter Youth Basketball League (Kindergarten, Grades 1-2, Grades 3-5 & Grades 6-8), Volleyball Clinic (Grades 5-8), Volleyball League Team Force (Grades 5-8), Middle School Winter Sports Conditioning (ages 9-14), and Archery (Ages 7+).

Youth Gymnastics: The Y offers a variety of classes for different ages and levels, starting at age 3 and up. Gymnastics classes will help your child develop balance, coordination and self-esteem, while building their gymnastics skills. Our youth classes also utilize the Beam, Bar, Floor and Vault to develop gymnastics skills. Build strength, balance, and confidence with our fun and high-energy Acro/Tumbling class, which is perfect for ages 7 and up!

Dance: We are offering an Introduction to Ballet/Tap for ages 3-5 and Ballet/Tap Combo 1 for ages 6-10. These classes will help your child develop motor skills and self-confidence in a fun introductory ballet/tap combination class.

Teen Fitness: We are continuing the Y’s popular Teen Wellness program for teens ages 12-13 in grade 7, which teaches them to safely and effectively use the equipment in our Wellness Center. We are also offering a Teen and Family group exercise class including Cycle which is included with Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA membership.

Small Group Personal Training: Adults and teens can also find new ways to stay active this winter at the Y. Pilates Circuit blends traditional and contemporary Pilates on the reformer, chair, and tower for a full-body workout, with options for drop-in or session registration. Teen Strength & Lifting gives ages 14–17 the tools to safely and effectively grow their strength and fitness beyond the basics, while Strength for Life offers small-group lifting and training for adults looking to build confidence, balance, and energy in a supportive environment.

Kids Night Out: Parents can go out without the kids, while the kids have a blast at the Y! Held the second Friday of the month from 6:00-9:45pm, kids will enjoy a pizza dinner, popcorn, a movie and free swim. This program is open to Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA members and community members in grades K-4.

Health and Safety Classes: The Y continues to offer American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED courses, which are open to FSPY members and members of the community. Plus, American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses are available throughout the year, including this winter.

And, be sure to mark your calendars for Try the Y Week December 29, 2025 to January 5, 2026. Community members are invited to Try the Y and check out all our amazing wellness options including Group and Aquatic Exercise classes, our state-of-the-art Wellness Center for strength training, lifting or cardio, lap swimming, and more. During Try the Y week, FSPY is also waiving the Membership Joiner’s Fee, a savings of up to $100.
