xHockey Performance and CCM Partner to Bring the xChallenge to Area Players

CCM's newest gear lineup free for players to try out at xHockey Performance in Scotch Plains

Scotch Plains, N.J. — xHockey Performance, a hockey skills development facility focused on hockey-specific strength and conditioning coaching, is hosting an off-ice skills competition in partnership with CCM, a leading distributor of hockey equipment. The xChallenge will allow hockey players to try out the latest line of CCM gear for free and takes place Wednesday, July 12, from 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm. xHockeyProducts, the innovative company behind the training aids and technologies being used at the event, will be measuring competitors’ speed and accuracy in both stickhandling and shooting. Every participant will receive at least $25 of xHockeyProducts training aids, and other prizes will be awarded throughout the event to select participants.

Along with providing equipment, CCM is sending ex-NHL equipment manager, Dave Nichols, and regional product experts, who will provide advice on safety standards, performance advantages and best-fitting practices. Nichols served as an equipment manager to two NHL clubs, including the New Jersey Devils, as well as the U.S. Men’s Olympic Team.

“July 12 will be a showcase of CCM’s commitment to providing cutting-edge equipment year after year,” said Bryce Salvador, co-creator of xHockey Performance and former Devils captain. “In addition, our innovative xHockey Performance training programs will be available to the public to attempt to better themselves on and off the ice. Our center is capable of elevating any level player and we are excited to share that belief with our community.”

xHockey Performance shares a location with Athletic Edge, a nationally recognized sports training facility, located at 1718 East 2nd Street in Scotch Plains. xHockey Performance is operated by Salvador and the winningest strength coach in NHL history, Mike Vasalani. The facility allows for year-round hockey training with innovative off-ice techniques, as rink time in the New Jersey area is scarce.

The training center is outfitted with some of the most progressive training equipment in the industry, including the Total Game Changer, which develops quicker stickhandling, the Accunet, which assists with shooting accuracy, the Dangle Zone, which stresses puck possession against opponents, and more.

“Since opening our doors earlier this year, we’ve shown players of all levels and ages that developing your skill is just as important as positioning and specific play execution,” Salvador said. “When ice time becomes available, coaches must institute systems, philosophies and structure. Lost in the shuffle is actual individual player skill development. This is where we come in.”

xHockey Performance and CCM encourage potential participants to sign up now, as spots are limited. For more information or to sign up, go to the xChallenge information page at xHockeyPerformance.com.
