He remained at large until his arrest Saturday.

The woman has not been named. She survived, but was seriously injured. As of Sunday afternoon, she remains in the Jersey City Medical Center, where she has been upgraded to stable condition and continues to recuperate.

A Secaucus Police lieutenant was in the direct area of the crash and rendered aid to the woman.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the
Secaucus Police Department with the investigation and arrest of Abrol.

This marks the second time in the same week someone in or from Secaucus was hit by a car, and the driver then fled without stopping to give aid: Last Friday, Jan. 20, a Secaucus woman was hit by a car and killed in a hit and run in Carlstadt. The woman who was killed is Deborah Peko-Lillis, 61, a longtime and well-known Secaucus resident.

The driver of the Toyota Rav4 similarly fled the scene, said police, but he was later located. Justinian Cuevasmetemi, 71, of Passaic, was charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, and third-degree endangering an injured victim.
