Residents who live in that apartment building said they saw a large police response on May 2, and also saw officers in the center median of Meadowlands Parkway, doing ballistics and looking for gun shell fragments. One resident said it was his understanding the gunshots were fired from across Meadowlands Parkway, but Chief Miller would not confirm this.
This is the exact same apartment complex where a man fatally shot himself this past October, after calling 911 to report an unfounded burglary. At 1 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2022 a 70-year-old Clifton man called police to report a burglary at that apartment complex, and then shot himself in the chest when police arrived, say Secaucus Police.

The first responding police officer observed a man walking towards him in the parking lot. The man was armed with a handgun and shot himself in the chest as he approached the officer. He was immediately transported to Hudson Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In regards to the latest shooting on May 2, Chief Miller declined to release any more information to the public, as not to compromise continued police work.
"I will confirm we are investigating a shots fired incident, that resulted in no injuries, that occurred on Meadowlands Parkway that occurred in the early morning hours of May 2," said the police chief Monday, May 22. "No other information is being released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation."
