SECAUCUS, NJ — The fact that there are many corporations and warehouses located in town is well known to most Secaucus residents. One of those warehouses — which stores thousands of dollars worth of high-end sneakers — was burglarized repeatedly over the past year, and Secaucus police say they apprehended the alleged suspect Sunday.

Police say they found a Bronx man inside the County Road warehouse with a knife this past Sunday, March 10, and they say he's the same person who broke into it three times in the past.

Goat.com is a website where users can buy and sell sneakers online. The sneakers sold there can be very expensive, ranging from $190 retro Air Jordans to $250 LeBron James-designed shoes, not to mention a pair of "Air Yeezys" from Kanye West that sell for $1,550.

Goat stores the shoes in a warehouse on County Road in Secaucus. The warehouse was first robbed October 20, 2018, police said. Sixteen pairs of sneakers, with an aggregate value of over $6,000, were stolen that day.

Then on Nov. 19 the warehouse was burglarized again, where 31 pairs of sneakers, with an aggregate value of over $23,000, were stolen.

It was robbed yet a third time on Jan. 13, and police said more than $23,000 in sneakers were stolen.

Then at 1:14 p.m. this past Sunday, March 10 Secaucus police were called for yet another burglary at Goat. Upon their arrival, officers found forced entry to one of the loading dock doors and the wires for the security system and CCTV were cut. Police set up a perimeter outside the warehouse and started searching inside, thinking the suspect may still be there. While searching the warehouse, Daqwaun Ralls, 26, of the Bronx, was cornered in a stairwell holding a large knife in his hand, police said.

He was handcuffed and was found in possession of burglar tools, specifically “tin snips” and a metal bar. Numerous pairs of sneakers that were intended to be taken were recovered within the warehouse, police said.

A train police officer with Norfolk Southern railroad located Ralls’ car running on County Avenue. The same car had been seen on video surveillance during some of the aforementioned burglaries, police said.

Police charged Ralls with burglarizing Goat on four total occasions. He was charged with four counts of armed burglary, burglary, theft, possession of burglar’s tools, among other charges, and was taken to the Hudson County Jail.
