SECAUCUS, NJ — Five Secaucus police officers were recognized for a car stop they made last September, where a member of the Trinitarios gang was arrested, and four illegal guns were found.
The driver of the car was staying at the Aloft motel in Secaucus, and police searched his motel room, where the illegal guns were found.
The officers are Det. Joseph Fuardo, Officer David Delseni, Officer Michael Borrelli, Officer Anthony Sherman and Officer Jason Mitchell.

On Sept. 5, 2022, while in a marked patrol car, Delseni pulled over a car after he said he saw the driver acting suspiciously when he noticed the police car. Police did not elaborate how he was acting suspiciously.
The driver was found to have an active warrant for his arrest, and he also was "a self-admitted high-ranking member of the Trinitarios gang," said Secaucus Police. Trinitarios are a Dominican-American gang founded on Rikers Island and were at one time the leading gang in New York City.

The driver was taken into custody and his female passenger was also detained.
Secaucus police officers also said they could see a handgun in plain view in the vehicle and thus a probable cause search of the car was conducted. The handgun, unspecified drugs and a stolen wallet were found in the car.
The driver was found to be staying at the Aloft hotel in Secaucus.
From there, the five Secaucus police officers searched his hotel room and his motorcycle. Inside his motel room at the Aloft, a loaded 9 mm handgun was found. Two more loaded handguns, one of which was reported stolen, were found in his motorcycle.
This made a total of four illegal guns recovered from the initial car stop.
"The officers took a dangerous felon as well as dangerous weapons off the streets," said Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller.
