Back To School: South Brunswick Police Share Traffic Safety Tips
With schools reopening Thursday, South Brunswick Police is reminding residents to be cautious when driving.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Around 9,000 township students, teachers, and staff will be heading to school for the first time in 18 months on Thursday.
The South Brunswick Police Department has shared a few reminders to help ensure a safe environment for motorists and pedestrians.
For Children:

- Cross only at crosswalks and street corners, never mid-block or between parked cars.
- Use public sidewalks and streets, avoid cutting through private property.
- Walk to and from school in a group with friends or other students.
- Obey traffic signals and directions from crossing guards.
For Drivers And Motorists:
- Allow for extra time to get to your locations as there will be added traffic.
- Stay alert for students crossing roads and busses stopping to pick up students.
- Watch your speed.
Additionally, to keep students safe, Police Chief Raymond Hayducka announced the launch of the highly successful "Operation Safe Schools" program.

Under the program, South Brunswick Police Department will have enhanced presence at all Township schools at the start and end of the school day during the first week and increased traffic enforcement in school zones.
