Cash Reward Now Offered In Cranbury Hit And Run

The Middlesex County prosecutor is now offering a cash reward for any info on the driver who fled after hitting a teen and killing her dog.

CRANBURY, NJ — Do you have any information about who hit a 13-year-old girl out walking her dog two weeks ago in the town of Cranbury? The Middlesex County prosecutor is now offering a cash reward for any information leading to the apprehension of a driver who fled after striking the girl and killing her dog, Panda.

As Patch reported, the hit and run happened just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 on South Main Street, near Evans Drive in Cranbury. Panda was killed on impact and the young teen was seriously injured; she was in a neck brace in the hospital. The driver did not stop, fled the scene and has not been found since. Police are seeking a white male with a beard driving a 2007 - 2009 beige or champagne-color Ford Expedition with silver trim.

In fact, Panda absorbed most of the impact from the car, and likely saved Mia's life, the girl's father, Andrew Huang told Patch. People nearby who witnessed the crash hugged the dog and comforted Panda as she died at the scene, he told Patch. The driver never stopped to render aid; he just sped off, witnesses said.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey now says cash rewards are being offered to anyone who wants to provide information anonymously, by contacting Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Inc. via phone or website. The phone number is: 1-800-939-9600. The website is: middlesextips.com. Text messages may be sent to 274637 (CRIMES) with the keyword ‘’midtip’’ followed by a message.

Those who call will be given instructions on how to collect cash rewards by using a numerical code that will be recognized by a local bank, which will pay the rewards following approval by Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Inc.

"I wish I could have been there and done something," her dad has said. "The driver hit my daughter, leaving her bleeding and unconscious on the road, killed our dog and fled the scene of the crime."

The girl is home now recovering. They family buried Panda. A photo of Mia has been used with permission from her father.
