Cranbury Dad Releases Video To Find Hit-and-Run Driver That Hit Daughter, Killed Dog

After his 13-year-old daughter was hit by a car and the family dog killed, a Cranbury dad released this video of the dog's final moments.

CRANBURY, NJ — On May 11, we reported that a 13-year-old girl out walking the family dog was hit by a car in Cranbury, NJ. Tragically, Panda, the dog, was killed on impact and the young teen was seriously injured. The driver fled the scene and has not been found since.

Now this week, the girl's father, Andrew Huang, released this heartbreaking video, captured on their home's security camera, that shows his daughter, Mia, and Panda running out the front door for their final walk. This was just moments before they were hit by the car on Main Street in downtown Cranbury.

"My daughter is home now and healing, but our lives were changed forever," Huang told Patch. He said the family is desperate to find the driver who did this to them. "I have not heard anything, which is why I made the video. The (Cranbury) police are trying to help in any way possible. They visited me and told me they are on the case. I'm reaching out in the hopes that the power of social media can help my family solve a horrific crime."

"This video contains footage from my home security system moments before my 13-year-old daughter was struck, as well as the excruciating aftermath that my family, including my three younger children, suffered," he continued. "I was not home at the time and this footage is painful for me to watch. I wish I could have been there and done something ... The driver hit my daughter, leaving her bleeding and unconscious on the road, killed our dog and fled the scene of the crime."

Huang told TAP Into that Mia sustained a concussion, left lung contusion and also has back pain. She could not really move for days after being hit. But — “No signs of internal bleeding and, miraculously, no broken bones,” he said.

In fact, Panda absorbed most of the impact from the car, and likely saved Mia's life, he said. People nearby who witnessed the crash hugged the dog and comforted Panda as she died at the scene, he told Patch. The driver never stopped to render aid; he just sped off, witnesses said.

The hit and run happened just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 on South Main Street, near Evans Drive. Police are seeking a white male with a beard driving a 2007 - 2009 champagne Ford Expedition, possibly with silver trim.
