A Dozen Vehicles Impounded For Safety Problems, South Brunswick Police Say
South Brunswick police inspected vans and buses near New Jersey Turnpike Exit 8A. A dozen vehicles were towed, police said.
South Brunswick police on Tuesday impounded 12 of 22 vehicles inspected in their second round of the Exit 8A Commuter Van Crackdown, authorities said.
The vehicles were towed because of safety issues, said Capt. James Ryan.
Police also issued 67 summonses, he said.

A dozen police officers and motor vehicle officials worked on the program, inspecting vans and buses.
Last month, when police held a similar inspection in the area, they impounded nine of the 20 vehicles that were inspected.

In that case, they also issued 80 summonses, nine of which went to unlicensed drivers and another that went to a driver whose license was suspended, according to Capt. James Ryan.
The inspections are being conducted near New Jersey Turnpike Exit 8A.
The vans often bring workers from around the state to jobs at warehouses in that area.
