As COVID Cases Rise, South Brunswick Schools Advise Caution
"We are in the home stretch and together we can contribute to a safe end of the school year," Superintendent Scott Feder said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Positive COVID-19 cases among students and staff in the South Brunswick school district are on the rise once again, officials said. This is consistent with the statewide trend where New Jersey has more than twice as many COVID patients in hospitals as it did at the end of March.
District officials have asked parents and guardians to remain vigilant and not send sick children to school.
“We cannot stress enough that if anyone in your household is sick, even with what appears to be seasonal allergies, please have your school-aged children tested for COVID before sending them to school,” Superintendent Scott Feder said in a district-wide communication.

“By doing so, you will help us to continue to keep our classrooms open. Please note that if there is a COVID positive within a household, all siblings must be excluded from attending class in person.”
The district is also offering rapid testing kits for students. “One will be provided to you free of charge. Masks continue to be available in our schools for anyone who needs one,” Feder said.

Although COVID-19 cases are on the rise, the district plans to go ahead with its scheduled end-of-school-year events. However, all large, in-person events will be subject to review.
"Please note that we are planning to continue to have these events in person, but each large event will be reviewed to see if full capacity would create the “smush rule”. I use the term “smush” when there is a large amount of people in a small area. We will continue to monitor the numbers and will mask if necessary for any of these events,” Feder said.
“We are in the home stretch and together we can contribute to a safe end of the school year.”
South Brunswick is not the only school district seeing an increase in positive COVID-19 cases among staff and students. The East Brunswick School District too is seeing a rise in COVID019 cases and sent out a similar note to parents and guardians.
