Lawsuit Claims Man Almost Lost Leg Because Of NJ Tough Mudder Injury

A man has filed a lawsuit, claiming he almost lost his leg after he was injured in a Tough Mudder race in NJ, published reports said.

A New York man has filed a lawsuit, claiming he almost lost his leg after he was injured in a Tough Mudder race in New Jersey, according to published reports.

In the lawsuit filed in Brooklyn, Christopher Jurs, 35, says a piece of metal, hidden under a pool of sludge impaled his knee during the October 2013 race, causing a serious infection and leading to emergency surgery, the New York Post reported.

According to NJ.com, that race was held in Old Bridge.

Jurs said he was injured during the last portion of the race, called “Electroshock Therapy,’’ when runners go through a field of live wires that dangle over mud trenches, the Post said.

A representatives for the Tough Mudder company, based in Brooklyn, told the Post that safety is its “top priority.”
