Major Delays On Route 18 Expected This Weekend

Police in New Brunswick and East Brunswick are urging drivers to find alternate routes because significant traffic delays are expected on Route 18, near Route 1, this weekend.

Major bridge work on Route 18 begins at 8 p.m. Friday and will continue until Monday morning, East Brunswick police said.

Only two lanes of Route 18 will be open in each direction, and there will be short-term stoppages of traffic on both Route 18 and Route 1, as bridge sections are removed and replaced, according to the state’s traffic website.
