More Roadwork, More Delays Expected On Route 18

Delays are expected again this weekend, as crews continue to work on Route 18, near Route 1, East Brunswick police said.

Major bridge work is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Friday and continue until Monday morning.

Two lanes of traffic will be open on Route 18 north and south, but lane closures and 15 minute stoppages are possible, according to an alert from police.

The ramp from Route 1 north to Route 18 north will be closed all weekend.

“The ramp to Route 1 south from Route 18 north will be closed in conjunction with the auxiliary lane on Route 18 north,’’ the alert said.

Police said drivers should expect major delays and plan alternate routes when possible.
