Police in Middlesex County Charge Three People In Airsoft Gun Case

New Brunswick police arrested two young men and a boy who they say were involved in shooting people with airsoft guns.

New Brunswick police arrested two young men and 16-year-old boy who they say were involved in shooting people with airsoft guns.

Just before 1 a.m. Sunday, police took the trio into custody and recovered two airsoft guns, which are handguns that used compressed air to fire projectiles, according to a news release from Capt. JT Miller.

Police were called to the area of Prosper and Guilden streets, where a 21-year-old man told officers he was shot in the face by someone who was in a silver vehicle that had been parked across the street. He told officers the vehicle sped away after the shooting.

About ten minutes later, police spotted that vehicle on Prosper Street, and they saw a bicyclist get shot. Officers chased the vehicle and spotted it on New York Avenue.

Isaiah Colon, 18, of the Somerset section of Franklin, Irvoan Evans, 21, of Wilson, N.C., and a 16-year-old Newark boy were taken into custody.

All three were charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and eluding.

After their arrest, detectives identified other victims who also said they’d been shot earlier that evening, and the investigation is continuing, police said. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
