Police In Middlesex County Searching For Home Invasion Suspect

New Brunswick police say Christopher Green of Highland Park is one of three suspects in a December home invasion in the city.

New Brunswick police are asking for the public’s help in their search for a suspect they say is wanted for a Jones Avenue home invasion last year.

Police are looking for Christopher Green, 32, of Highland Park, who has been identified as one of three men who held a Jones Avenue resident at gunpoint on Dec. 29, then stole marijuana, electronics and a jacket, according to a news release from Capt. JT Miller.

Police said the same three suspects robbed the same man of marijuana about four weeks earlier at that house.

Over the last few months, there have been several home invasions in the city, but the majority have involved victims who either had illegal drugs in their homes or had prior interactions with the suspects involving drug deals, police said.

“These are not random acts,’’ police said in the news release. “The victims have been targeted specifically because of the illegal drugs they possess and/or distribute.”

On Sunday, robbers held a woman at gunpoint in a Hamilton Street home, and the victim in that case told officers she believed her home was targeted because her roommates frequently sold marijuana from the house, authorities said.

This month, city police charged two Camden men in connection with a Feb. 2 Morrell Street home invasion. In that case, police said their investigation suggests the defendants went to the home because of a prearranged marijuana sale.

Green is described as an black man, who is about 6 feet 1 inch tall, and weighs about 180 pounds. He has a tattoo of stars on his chest, and a tattoo of hands with rosary beads on his left arm. He is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Detective Harry Lemmerling at (732) 745-5217 or the city police department’s main phone number at (732) 745-5200.
