South Brunswick had a decrease in reports of violent crime in 2013, compared to 2012, according to the Uniform Crime Report.
There was a slight increase in non-violent crime during that time frame.
The state Department of Law and Public Safety on Friday released the 2013 Uniform Crime Report. The data shows New Jersey’s overall crime rate decreased by seven percent in 2013, compared to 2012, according to a news release from the state.

In South Brunswick, there were 22 violent crimes reported in 2013, down from 34 in 2012. The per capita violent crime rate was 0.5 percent, down from 0.8 percent.
There were 540 non violent crimes reported in 2013, up from 518 the previous year. The per capita non-violent crime rate was 12.2 percent in 2013, compared with 11.7 percent in 2012.
