South Brunswick Police: Home Burglary Cases Solved

South Brunswick police charged a 52-year-old Franklin man with two home burglaries. Police say stolen goods were found in his home.

South Brunswick police have charged a 52-year-old Franklin man with two home burglaries.

The South Brunswick burglaries occured on Michele Court and Coriander Drive during the last week of February, Lt. James Ryan said in a news release.

The break in the case came on Feb. 27, when Bayonne Police Officer, Kenneth Drago, pulled Edward Frosztega over, police said. He had fraudulent license plates and an outstanding warrant for his arrest, police said.

Drago found a handgun and a bag of jewelry in Frosztega’s possession, so Bayonne officers called Franklin police, said Ryan.

According to The Jersey Journal, police spotted the gun sticking out of a duffle bag in the car, and then they found items including 22 watches, gold and silver jewelry, a digital camera, laptop, cell phone, drill and pry bar in the vehicle.

Franklin Detective Sammy Hernandez and South Brunswick Detective Dennis Yuhasz were working on an investigation into string of burglaries off Route 27 in both towns. So when they got the call from Bayonne, the detectives went to Hudson County and interviewed the defendant, police said.

Yuhasz developed probable cause and obtained a search warrant for Frosztega’s Franklin home, said Ryan.

On Tuesday, detectives executed that warrant and recovered items stolen in the two South Brunswick house burglaries.

Frosztega was charge with two counts of burglary by South Brunswick Police. He is also facing charges in Hudson and Somerset counties, police said.

He is being held in the Hudson County Jail in lieu of $140,000 bail.

“This case involved crimes in three counties and required a teamwork approach by all those involved,’’ Chief Raymond Hayducka said in a news release. “The alert Bayonne officer found the handgun, the Franklin and South Brunswick detectives realized the suspect fit their pattern, and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office helped secure the search warrant. This is a great job by all involved.”
