South Brunswick Resident Helps Create Ramadan Sharing Initiative

Two Middlesex County residents are asking Muslims to share food with at least one non-Muslim friend or neighbor during Ramadan.

Two Middlesex County residents have started a Ramadan Sharing Initiative.

Azra Baig of South Brunswick and Saima Iqbal of North Brunswick are reaching out to other Muslims, requesting that they share food with at least one non-Muslim friend or neighbor during Ramadan, which begins Wednesday evening and lasts until July 18.

It is “an initiative to help spread peace, love and kindness by sharing food with our friends, neighbors, co-workers and the greater community during this month,’’ Baig said in an email. “For example, one can share a plate of food, a bowl of dates, a food basket or some cookies.”
