South Brunswick Schools Reopening Status ‘Remains Fluid’: OEM

The school district is now scheduled to reopen for in-person classes in the hybrid track on Feb. 1. But town officials say this could change

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick has delayed yet again the return to in-person classes due to increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

Students were scheduled to return on Jan. 19, but now the date has been moved to Feb. 1. School superintendent Scott Feder made the announcement last weekend in a late evening email.

Feder said South Brunswick was in no way immune to the spread of COVID-19, especially among the school going population.

In their COVID report on Tuesday, town officials said that the status of “South Brunswick Schools remains fluid, with decisions made based on the best and most recent available data, guidance from government organizations, and a comprehensive review of school district capabilities.”

At the Board of Education meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feder will present a report on the situation.

Earlier this month, a group of parents wrote to the school district urging them to reopen schools for in-person classes.
