State Grants $2.8M In Stabilization Aid To South Brunswick Schools
The aid would go a long way in helping the school district that saw its funding cut by more than $1.7 million for the 2022-23 school year.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The South Brunswick School District will receive additional funds from the state to make up for budget shortfalls and reduced state aid.
The state Department of Education announced $29.7 million in stabilization aid for 42 school districts. South Brunswick will be getting $2,890,780.
“The Department always strives to work closely with districts to ensure schools receive the funding necessary for the needs of their students,” Angelica Allen-McMillan, Acting Commissioner of Education said in a statement.

“This Stabilization Aid is an example of that partnership with school districts, and I applaud Governor Murphy for providing this additional layer of immediate support.”
Districts had to apply for aid and the NJDOE prioritized applications based on equipment, supplies, technology, and furniture; purchase of school buses and other transportation costs; textbooks, and one-time security costs.

Those who applied for the Fiscal Year 2023 Stabilization Aid were required to demonstrate how they plan to fund operations in future when supplemental state aid is not available.
Districts that received Stabilization Aid funding in 2022 were also required to describe how they implemented their stabilization plan.
