What: The Seton Hall University Men’s and Women’s Swim Team will dedicate their January 26 meet against Marist College to the multiple sclerosis(MS) community by hosting a special Swim for MS event. To mark this special day, the entire swim team will be wearing blue swim caps, one of MSAA’s colors, as a way to create awareness of the 400,000 people who are living with multiple sclerosis in the United States. Representatives from the University and MSAA will be collecting donations and sharing information about multiple sclerosis and the Swim for MS Program. All funds raised will be used to support MSAA’s free programs and services.
“I think it’s a great partnership for our program,” said SHU head coach Ron Farina. “I think it provides us with a unique opportunity to generate awareness for this cause. Moving forward, we would love to host an event such as this once a year, or even once every semester.”
Seton Hall has been an active partner in the Swim for MS program, by donating the Arthur E. Imperattore Natatorium as the site for MSAA’s national PSA featuring Swim for MS Ambassador and four-time Olympic Gold Medalist Missy Franklin. "The aquatic facility at Seton Hall University was the perfect place for MSAA to shoot our Swim for MS public service announcements with our Swim for MS Ambassador Missy Franklin," stated MSAA President and CEO Doug Franklin.
Swim for MS is the signature fundraising program of the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA), whose mission is to enrich the quality of life for everyone affected by MS. Swim for MS encourages individuals or groups to create their own swim challenge while recruiting donations to support MSAA.
