FLASH: Blues Legend Booker T. Jones on the SOPAC Stage

For one night only on March 1st, Booker T. Jones shared his infectious spirit and music with the South Orange community on the SOPAC stage.  If you listened closely, you heard the root of American music—the Mississippi Delta’s blues which became soul and rock and roll; then Memphis and New Orleans passed those rhythms forth and back. 

Memphis-native Booker T. Jones always has the sound of his hometown Memphis, and the sound of its citizens forming new rhythms in his musical mind.  A premier Hammond B-3 player, Booker has won the world over with his classic instrumental soul and funk which “sings, purrs, moans and shouts with often near-human expressivity, under his skilled touch."
