Interfaith Hospitality Network Receives Two Grants to Send Children to Camp

IHN Receives Grants to Send Children to Camp

Interfaith Hospitality Network of Essex County (IHN) was awarded two grants to send children to camp this summer:  $5,000 from the United Way of Northern New Jersey and $3,000 from the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills (JLOSH). Of fifty grant applications to JLOSH, IHN was one of seven chosen. These funds will enable IHN to send children to both overnight and day camps in the area.

“We are so grateful to the United Way and JLOSH for understanding the benefits camp has for the children we serve,” says Tia Aery, Executive Director. “When kids go to camp they are able to learn from positive role models, make new friends, and develop new skills.  Plus, it gives them a break from the everyday struggles they face.” IHN Social Worker Brenda Myrick notes that camp also helps parents with the cost of childcare during the summer while they’re at work.
