Luxury Has A South Orange Address
South Orange Welcomes Luxury with Indulgence Day Spa
Enjoy a little pampering
While many suburban towns have been taking it on the chin since 2008 and the onset of the "Great Recession," South Orange has been on an upward trajectory. In the last few years South Orange has welcomed many new businesses and retailers including Clearview Cinemas, a live performance theatre, noteworthy restaurants, boutiques, an inspiring yoga studio, a well merchandised toy store, a high end pharmacy (with free delivery service), a gourmet market and very recently... a luxury spa.
As a former NYC executive with a generous expense account and the professional need to entertain heavy-hiting clients, I have visited spas from Manhattan to Los Angeles, and from Santa Fe, NM to Miami, Florida-- making me a bit of a "spa snob."

Suprisingly, my high expectations were happily met when I indulged at "Indulgence Day Spa" (located at 61 South Orange Avenue in the heart of town) on Friday evening. From the minute you walk in you feel your stress begin to melt away. The space and atmosphere are dramatic and breathtaking. It is highly styled with a minimalist feel.
You will not find muted earth tones or bamboo stalks anywhere in sight. Instead, the owners completely gutted and renovated a former art gallery and its quaint exposed brick walls. In its place is a sophisticated, dramatic and luxurious environment. This decor is achieved with super white walls, double ceiling height, crown moldings, ebony wood floors and a giantic glamourous crystal chandeleier. I think sometimes we forget just how powerful black and white can be as design elements.

The treatment rooms are all on the second floor which has matte black walls accented with super white painted picture molding. In the sitting area is a magnificent stone fireplace with a carved wood mantle and comfortable banquet style seating.
I felt even more delighted after I had the "Classic Fusion Massage. " The therapist's name is Michelle and she has strong hands and covers the whole body in 60 minutes. It was a very well spent $110.00.
The treatments for manicures and pedicures are pricier than the "fast food" type nail salons in town. Instead of feeling rushed and having your polish chip in a day or so, at "Indulgence" you are welcomed to relax, given a bottle of water, and the opportunity to experience a real manicure/pedicure with high quality polish (I selected the brand Butter from London). The owners have attended to the needs of the rich and famous in their previous businesses and they really know how to make you look feel and like one too; right here in our ever growing town. Lucky us.
