Dear Villager,
Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
You are critical-- Please vote!
There is a primary contest in our new Congressional District 10, because of the death of Rep. Donald Payne, Sr. in March, and the 2010 census redistricting, which forced Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. into a different district.
Therefore, the winner of our Congressional primary race on June 5 will represent South Orange for the next two years and possibly longer.
Although President Obama and other candidates on Line A have no primary races, it is important that, as Democrats, we vote and show our support.
Polls are open from 6 am to 8 pm. Candidates for our new Congressional District 10 include the following individuals and others on your ballot.
Here are links to their websites for you to learn more about them:

The success of our democratic government depends on the quality of representation in Congress.
The House of Representatives, together with the Senate, is the center of policymaking in America.
The typical House Representative is a member of six committees, where key compromises about policy, revenue and spending are hammered out.
A House Representative must take positions on bills, listen to constituents’ opinions, and bring funds back to the district for infrastructure projects, educational facilities, jobs, and other important causes.
They must be help constituents, and perform case work to solve problems, ranging from veteran benefits, Social Security, disability, and immigration to environmental, workplace safety, homeland security and other federal laws.
Because most incumbents are returned to office after their first election, this year’s open primary race for District 10 in the House of Representatives is critical for South Orange.
The winner is likely to serve for several terms.
There are no term limits.
As a South Orange Democratic voter, you signal support of continued civility and reform by voting Line A on Tuesday, June 5, and for your choice of candidates for Congress.
Sincerely, Your South Orange Democratic Committee
