Summer 2013 is approaching and many parents are asking -- what kinds of summer camp opportunities exist for the globally-minded child in our community?

GlobalSOMA is on the case!  Here are three you may not know about.

(1)  The Global Arts Day Camp @ South Mountain YMCA

This day camp for young learners (K-2) focuses on one particular culture for each session.  This year the focus countries are Turkey, Brazil and Kenya.  Children explore these cultures through music, dance, crafts, arts and games.  The camp is located at Temple Sharey Tefilo, and is an affordable option at $855 for each three week session.  To learn more, click here.

(2)  iD Tech Camps @ Seton Hall University

Offered at Seton Hall University in South Orange, InternalDrive Tech Camp is one of the World's top global science and technology camps for children.  iD Tech Camps offer an array of day and overnight camps for children ages 7 - 17.  The camp offers cutting edges courses in programming, app development, and game design, mixed in with off-computer games and sports.  Check out the camp's introductory video.

(3)  Global Leadership Adventures

The Global Leadership Adventures (GLA) program is not based in New Jersey, but offers opportunities for high school students, ages 15 - 18, to travel abroad for service and volunteer-oriented learning in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.  This year, for example, GLA, is offering a service program in India, where participants tackle issues of sustainability and organize a camp for children.  The tuition cost varies by program.  To learn more, check out a video about the program.
