The Baird Center offers new and old Cultural classes this spring

The Spring Session at the Baird features a brand new addition for children! Other classes include favorites for all ages in art, music, and fitness. Register starting March 1!

South Orange, N.J., February 21, 2013 – Registration for the Baird’s spring classes begins March 1st. This season, sharpen some old skills with returning favorites or try something totally new! Classes are available to all communities.  

For kids, an array of art, music and dance classes are offered, including the brand new Young Singers Lab. Under the instruction of professional singer and theater performer, Holly Pappas, young voices will grow and learn various techniques and exercises. Play Guitar! is also back, and returning for its second season is Music Preludes, the popular caregiver and me music class for children under 5 years old. Returning art classes include the ever-popular, Comic Book Capers, along with Clay Time, Eyes through the Lens Children’s Photography, and Art Studio I. Little dancers are invited to learn fundamentals in Pre-Ballet Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, Ballet I, and Funky Freestyle under the instruction of Shona Roebuck.

Popular returning classes for adults include Art with a Master, Ballet, Middle Eastern Dance, Flamenco Dance and Yoga. Also offered for adults are three new workshop classes, including the three-session Monoprinting: Explore the Unique where students can create images combining painting and printmaking techniques; Digital Skills for Mixed Media Art is also a three-session workshop in which students will harness artistic skills with mixed media materials in a digital environment; and Gel Transfer Print Workshop, a one-day workshop where students will learn different methods for creating Polaroid-style prints using various materials.

All classes take place at the South Orange Department of Recreation at the Baird Center at 5 Mead Street, South Orange, New Jersey. Space fills up quickly! Registration begins March 1st.
