The Big Read at South Mountain was a BIG Hit

Numerous students and parents turned out at The Big Read event held last Thursday, February 28th at South Mountain elementary. All students in K-2 were asked to read THE EMPTY POT by Demi and students in 3-5 read OUT OF MY MIND by Sharon Draper.

At the event, students and parents led lively, profound and in-depth discussions about the respective books.  Coordinated by Eileen Carlton and Kristin Mahoney,  parent volunteers guided 11 small groups of 8-10 students each and their parents.

Principal Tina Lehn introduced the event, encouraging children to utilize their analytical skills and to make sure that the chldren's voices would be heard.  And they were!  Congratulations to South Mountain for putting on a very special and memorable Big Read.
