Welcome Class of 2016!
The Seton Hall community welcomed the Class of 2016 , with the long-standing traditional Move-In Day for first-year students, to help new Setonians and their families settle into campus living.
On Thursday, August 23, hundreds of members of the University community welcomed the Class of 2016 , with the long-standing traditional Move-In Day for first-year students, bringing together faculty, staff, upperclassmen and alumni to help new Setonians and their families settle into campus living. Standing curbside at Aquinas and Boland Halls, caring volunteers expressed their Pirate Pride as they greeted more than 1,400 students, the largest freshman class in more than 30 years.
On this dynamic day, many expressed their gratitude to those who assisted in unloading their belongings and helped to move them into their residence hall rooms before the new students participated in a weekend of Orientation activities and programs to get them acclimated to University life.
"I’m so excited. I never thought this day would come," said Ariana Braccia, from Old Bridge.
"Ariana is my first of four going to college. My daughter went to Catholic School her whole life. This is such a good school. Seton Hall is wonderful," said Lisa, her mom.
"I’m just really excited and can’t wait to get started with everything," said Megan Ferguson, from Portland Oregon.

Megan has a dual major, with the Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations and Modern Languages as does her roommate Christianna Prokop from Colonia.
Said Christianna, "I’m a little bit nervous and super-excited. I’m glad I know my suitemate." She explained that they used their Seton Hall technology to stay in touch throughout the summer.
This summer, the Class of 2016 was able to stay in touch as well as get academic and peer advising, with this summer’s launch of the SHUmobile program and establishment of a state-of-the art technology ecosystem to enhance the living and learning environment for the class of 2016. At Pirate Adventure, all freshmen received either a Samsung Series 7 tablet PC currently running Windows 8 or a Samsung Series 5 laptop with Windows 8. Freshmen also received a Nokia Lumia 900 smartphone running Windows Phone and cloud services through Office 365 for education. The smartphone includes a personalized app for all freshman students to connect with peers and the campus support network.
Enjoying the ability to connect this summer was also the experience of roommates Andrea Rodriguez from Orange County, California and Alessia Colonna from Staten Island, NY.
"I’ve been using my tablet and phone a lot. They are really easy to use. The technology is great," said Andrea, a Religious Studies major.
Agreed Alessia, a Mathematics major, "We’d just talk and text and used the SHU app to figure everything out. It was very helpful."
Perhaps best expressing the sentiment of the Class of 2016 on this memorable day was Rich Ricciardelli of Keyport.
"I was nervous at first, but seeing the Seton Hall community gather around to help anyone in need, I was reassured and ready for the new year," he said.
