Why Should Kids Have All The Fun This Summer?

The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School Releases its Summer Catalog and Registration is Underway!

The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School is gearing up for summer and registration is now open for adult classes. The summer schedule is available online and registration has begun. To register, visit www.somadultschool.org or call (973) 378-7620.

One summer highlight is a weekend adventure to the Berkshires, planned for August 2nd – August 4th. Included on the itinerary are two fabulous concerts at Tanglewood: one featuring the famed Y-Yo Ma on cello, and the other with award-winning pianist Lang Lang.

Right here at home the Adult School is offering a Summer Wine Pairing Dinner at Maplewood’s Coda on July 16th. The evening includes three gourmet taster courses each paired with two quality wines, and educational information about each wine being poured. Indulge in these summer treats without guilt by taking the Adult School’s recreation and fitness classes: golf, tennis, pilates, jazzercise, swimming, zumba and yoga.

For creative types, the Adult School is offering Beading 101, Black and White Photography, Glassblowing and How to Draw. In the performing arts, How to Read Music, Joy of Singing and Beginning Guitar are being presented.

Computer classes include Get to Know Your Ipad, Getting Started with Computers, Getting the Most Out of Your E-Reader, Joy of Code and Microsoft Office. Driver's ed offers Defensive Driving and Behind-the-Wheel Training.

Spanish Conversation is being offered as well as English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for foreign-born adults who wish to learn or improve their English.

New this summer are classes in Basket Weaving, Picture Framing, Preparing for Planting and Zumba Gold.

Note the following early start dates and register today!

  • Zumba with Sam begins on Monday, May 20th
  • Spanish Conversation and Jazzercise begin on Thursday, June 4th
  • Basket Weaving, How to Draw, ESL classes, How to Read Music, Joy of Singing and Beginning Guitar begin on  Thursday, June 13th
