"Can You Drink This Cup?" Accompanying the Lord Through Lent

Join Seton Hall University’s Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology (ICSST) as they continue their Lenten tradition of daily meditations through Lent. This year’s reflections are inspired by Matthew 20, verses 22 through 23, in which the Lord asks, “Can You Drink This Cup?”

Day by day, ICSST will share meditations and prayers that, with God’s grace, will help participants enter into the Lenten season in prayerful ways. The messages will focus on the meaning of being invited to journey with the Lord in his passion and death. These reflections are made possible through ICSST’s Preaching as Hospitality Formation Program and are written by administrators, faculty, staff and seminarians. The meditations will be shared beginning Ash Wednesday, March 5, and continuing through Holy Thursday, April 17.

Look for accompanying drawings created by renowned multimedia artist Sister Mary of the Compassion, OP (1908-1977). Born Mary Constance Rowe, she became a Dominican nun and lived in a cloistered community known as the Blue Chapel, in Union City, New Jersey. Several of Sister Mary's powerful drawings are currently on display at Lewis Hall, where the Seminary is based, and will be highlighted in the meditations.
