Mila Jasey Meets with SOMA Voters

Assemblywoman holds meet n' greet in South Orange.

Assemblywoman Mila Jasey’s latest stop on the campaign trail was to a familiar place, in South Orange.  The South Orange native met with voters to discuss her upcoming election and the importance of getting out the vote.

The Assemblywoman and her running mate Assemblyman John McKeon have been hitting the campaign trail hard recently as the election draws near.  Jasey and McKeon, both democrats, are up against republicans Lee Holtzman and Nicole Hagner in the race for the two New Jersey Assembly seats in the 27th Legislative District.

“I think the campaign is going well, I’m meeting a lot of people,” said Jasey.  “I’m out all day, every day.  I’m out all evening, every evening.  And the purpose is to introduce myself to people and to gain their support and to hopefully keep their interest in this election because there is a lot of apathy.”

Leslie Pogany, whose family has owned Bunny’s for four generations, likened the event to the days of old, when politicians used to frequent taverns to meet voters.

“In old time politics, this was the stomping grounds, a place to come and eat and meet candidates and talk politics,” said Pogany.  “Quite honestly, almost every politician has had parties here throughout the years.  We pride ourselves for letting people hear the politician speak and encouraging everyone to vote.”
