Op-Ed: Marian Cutler and Jim LoStuto for Board of Education
Polls are open from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday

Dear Neighbor,
I am writing to request your support for Marian Cutler and Jim LoStuto for the Board of Education on Wednesday.
I have resisted getting involved in BOE elections in the past, but this year the stakes are simply too high. With 56% of YOUR tax bill going to the School District, we need people who are willing to ensure YOUR money is being spent wisely and that innovative approaches are explored. With so much of YOUR taxes being spent on the school district, we need candidates who recognize that we can restore our school district to the top-ranking it held not too long ago, by advocating for a strong rigorous education that fully prepares all of our kids for the intensely competitive world that we all live in. With the prospect of further deleveling looming, we need people who will demand quantitative proof of the benefits to ALL kids before moving ahead with an unproven experiment . (7th grade was deleveled last year with no proof that deleveling in 6th grade provided any benefits) Lastly, we need candidates that recognize how important it is to communicate with and respond to the public about the critical decisions they are making about our kids.
Marian Cutler and Jim LoStuto are those people.
I have known Marian Cutler for several years and know that there is nobody more passionate and dedicated to our kids and our District. Marian Cutler is willing to devote the time and energy required to be an effective leader and an advocate for a strong rigorous education. Her corporate expertise in Public Relations will bring increased transparency to the Board so we can all be further engaged in decisions that impact the education of our kids. Finally, as an outsider to the Board of Education she will bring a fresh perspective, innovation and creative thinking to education, yet ensuring our excessive tax burden is controlled. Together, she and Jim LoStuto bring a wealth of professionalism, passion and knowledge which will benefit all of our kids and the entire District.
As outsiders, Marian and Jim face a tough challenge against well-financed opponents in this race. However, if enough of you get out to vote for Marian and Jim, you CAN make a difference.
I urge you to join me in supporting Marian Cutler and Jim LoStuto for Board of Education on WEDNESDAY April 27.
