Remembering Scott Flamm by Helping Others
Fundraiser honors memory of Short Hills resident who mentored underprivileged children.
It wasn't just money that was being solicited at Saturday night's fundraiser for the Flamm Center for Youth Development.
Organizers urged supporters to volunteer their time to mentor some of the 2,000 underprivileged kids and teenagers already being helped by the All Stars of New Jersey project.
Money from last night's event, at the South Orange Performing Arts Center, will go to the Scott Flamm Center for Youth Development, to be located in Newark. Flamm's family and friends say they have already raised $1.2 million for the youth center and the goal Saturday was to add an additional $300,000.

Flamm was a Short Hills resident and long-time supporter of the All Stars Project who died unexpectedly three years ago. The All Stars Project provides programs and activities that are not affiliated with the school system, including leadership training, theater groups, and volunteer initiatives.
Saturday's event included a silent auction and a performance by jazz violinist Regina Carter.
