Scenes from 'Grease Jr.'

5th graders put on a show that their grandparents could enjoy — with a little help from some very talented local parents.

When you're putting on a fifth-grade musical, it helps to have talented fifth graders.

It also helps to have a few talented teacher and parent advisers.

Seth Boyden Elementary School had all of the above for its recent production of Grease Jr. The Seth Boyden parent professionals in the arts working behind the scenes were: Michele Pawk, Tony Award-winning actress, director; Kendra Thyne, former ballerina with Oakland Ballet Musical, is coordinator and choreographer; Tim Welch, an accomplished theater and opera performer and vocal coach, and Kelly Heinze, Director of Music & More With Kelly, are Musical Directors. The sets are designed and built by Seth Boyden Artist-in-Residence Nancy Rich.

Greased lightening, indeed.
