Singers and Community Join for Messiah Sing-Along

The First Presbyterian & Trinity Church in South Orange invites the community to join in a sing-along of selections from Handel's Messiah

South Orange, NJ - The public is invited to sing along or simply enjoy hearing the third annual Handel’s Messiah “Sing-Along” on Wednesday, December 11 at First Presbyterian & Trinity Church in South Orange. The audience-choir will be joined by the South Orange Symphony strings, pianist Holland Jancaitis, and four vocal soloists (Abby Brodnick, soprano, Cornelia Lotito, mezzo-soprano, Keaun Guy, tenor, and Devin McGuire, bass-baritone), conducted by Susan Haig.

Want to brush-up? We’ll run through the choruses from 6:40 to 7:15 pm. First Presbyterian & Trinity Church is at 111 Irvington Ave. Enter the church from Irvington Ave. near the intersection of Irvington and South Orange Avenues. Parking is on the street.

Singers and music enthusiasts can sit in their preferred sections (soprano, alto, tenor or bass) and be part of this pop-up community chorus. The Sing starts at 7:30 pm and concludes by 8:45. Some scores will be available; please bring any scores you have.

The seven “sing-along” choruses are: #4 And the glory of the Lord; #7 And He shall purify; #9 O Thou that tellest good tidings to Zion; #12 For unto us a child is born; #17 Glory to God; #21 His Yoke is easy; and #42 the “Hallelujah Chorus.” Famous arias include “Comfort Ye”, “For Behold”, “Rejoice!”, and “He Shall Feed His Flock.”
