South Orange Will Get Water System Upgrades Totaling $420K: What To Know
Construction work is ongoing and is expected to be completed by month's end.
SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — New Jersey American Water has invested $420,000 to upgrade aging water main pipes in South Orange.
The project, which will be done by contractor, ConQuest, will replace about 800 feet of cast iron water main pipes that date back to 1916, according to the water company.
In addition, a new 8-inch ductile iron water main will be installed along Lackawanna Place and Valley Street.

New Jersey American Water will also replace 13 utility-owned service lines and upgrade two fire hydrants.
Upgrade work has been underway this month and is expected to be completed by month's end.

Construction crews are working Monday through Friday, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Resident's homes and driveways will remain accessible throughout construction.
