Special Improvement District Report to Be Presented Tonight
A look at what's on tap for tonight's BOT meeting.
Tonight’s Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting (7:30 p.m. at Village Hall) marks the end of the six month advisory committee on whether to enact a Special Improvement District (SID). A SID, if enacted, would charge business owners a fee based on their property assessment. It is still unclear what services the committee will recommend, however other towns have focused on marketing, business recruitment and sidewalk cleaning among other services.
The committee has not been without controversy as the majority of business owners from around the community . In a survey conducted by the committee to business owners, 74% of respondents said they were not willing to pay additional money for a SID to be enacted.
Also at tonight’s meeting will be a presentation by Neighborhood Watch Organization of South Orange coordinator Janine Buckner. In May, for her work with the Neighborhood Watch Organization.

Ordinance 2011-17 will be up for a vote. This ordinance amends Ordinance #09-13 providing for the compensation of all non-contractual and all supervisory personnel. This ordinance was tabled from previous meetings.
