The long list spans grades 6 through 8, spotlighting local kids’ hard work and academic achievement just as summer gets underway. 
• Young historians explore Revolutionary, Civil War eras at Sparta camp (spartaindependent.com subscription) — Kids in Sparta just spent two days stepping into Revolutionary and Civil War history at the Time Travelers Adventure Camp held at the Sparta Train Station. Guided by experienced reenactors and educator Morgan Bleakley, campers handled artifacts, practiced drills, sampled period foods, and played historical games, turning local summer break into an immersive, hands-on history lesson.
