Advisory Issued by Springfield OEM

For storm related issues, such as blocked streets or downed trees, please call the Springfield Police at 973-376-0400.

Heavy rains and wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour are expected today into Friday, with localized flooding also anticipated, according to Springfield's Office of Emergency Management.

Following significant rainfall in the area, the ground is already saturated. Because strong wind gusts are expected, there is a possibility of downed trees and wires, the OEM stated.

For storm-related issues, such as blocked streets, downed trees or wires, contact the Springfield Police Department at 973-376-0400.

The OEM also reminded residents to stay away from all power lines. "Assume they are live and dangerous," the OEM stated.

To report downed wires or power outages, customers should call JCP&L's Customer Service line at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877). JCP&L uses an automated system to handle customer calls as efficiently as possible. Customers who get an automated response when calling JCP&L are encouraged to use it, as it is designed to route their calls to the right destination quickly.
