The Arc of Union County Invites High School Graduates to Tour at Open House
For graduates and soon-to-be graduates with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Springfield, NJ (May 17, 2016) – High school graduates (and soon-to-be graduates), and their families, are invited to an open house at The Arc of Union County’s headquarters in Springfield on Saturday, June 18, 2016, from 10 am to 12:30 pm.
The day will begin with tours and presentations, followed by lunch. Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about The Arc’s programs and meet staff.
“The Open House is an excellent day for those families of adults with special needs looking at the next chapter to explore the possibilities here,” said Associate Executive Director, Deborah Pomianek. “Come visit and see what we’re all about!”

Adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities who have graduated high school might spend part of their day with The Arc on a community outing, working on activities of daily living, or socializing with their peers. Educational curriculum is built into each day, and may include reading, writing, computer education, and math, with content and pace of learning customized to each person’s abilities. Other activities for skill development include crafts, music, games, and exercise. The Arc also offers employability skills work. Participants are welcome to spend time in The Arc’s computer lab, art room, music therapy room, and The Heart Club’s fitness center. All programs are staffed by a multi-disciplinary team to assist participants in achieving their goals.
