Deserted Villages of New Jersey
On Wednesday, October 12th, at 7:00 P.M., historian Phil Jaeger will discuss some of the communities in New Jersey that have gone from being vibrant, bustling towns in centuries past to essentially deserted today. Natural disasters, newer modes of transportation, and the end of certain industries are often the cause. Jaeger will show the villages as they appeared in their prime and as they are today, with many of the scenes presented in a “Then and Now” format. Jaeger is a trustee of the Passaic County and Cedar Grove Historical Societies and has also served on the board of directors of the Canal Society of New Jersey. Many pictures used in this presentation will be drawn from Jaeger’s extensive collection of historic postcards, maps, and New Jerseyana.
