"Glimpses of the World Trade Center in Film: 1975-2001"

The Springfield Public Library is hosting "Glimpses of the World Trade Center in Film: 1975-2001".  Today's film is "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" (2001).  The late Stanley Kubrick’s brilliant post-apocalyptic drama, directed by Stephen Spielberg.  The polar ice caps have melted, oceans have swallowed cities, resources are limited, and childbearing is held to one per family.  To remedy this, surrogate robot children have been created, but one robot boy has learned how to love.  The movie was made before the 9/11 attacks, so even though the film is set in the future, the World Trade Center appears in New York City Scenes, and Spielberg decided to leave the twin towers in the DVD release.  Starring Haley Joel Osment, Jude Law, Frances O’Connor and Brendan Gleeson.  This film is 145 minutes and rated PG-13.  Bring your lunch and coffee and cookies will be served at 11:30 am.  Call the library 973-376-4930 for more information.
