Quintessence: a Wind Quartet
The Springfield Free Public Library will host the Quintessence Wind Quartet. They have played at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson, and at the Springfield Library as part of the August Symphony Orchestra concert in 2010. This program will include: Three Preludes by George Gershwin, Aires Tropicales by Paquito D’Rivera, Miniatures by William Grant Still, and Quintet for Woodwinds by John Cheetham Lynn Grice, on the oboe, is from Maplewood and has played with the Bergen Philharmonic, the Garden State Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Orchestra of NJ.
Donna Dixon, clarinet, is from Ramsey and is principal clarinet with the Ramsey Wind Symphony. Libby Schwartz if from Madison, WI, and is the principal horn with the Metropolitan Orchestra of NJ. Miriam Lachenauer, flute, is the principal flute with the Ridgewood Symphony, the Metropolitan Orchestra of NJ, and others. Robert Quinn, bassoon, sits principal chair for the Wetchester Symphonic Winds. Also doubling on baritone saxophone, he is a cofounder of the Garden State Saxaphone Quartet. This program is free to the public. Funding for this program has been provided by the David Hendlin Memorial Fund. The Springfield Free Public Library is located at 66 Mountain Avenue, Springfield.
