Five Candidates Running for Township Committee
A mix of familiar and new faces enter the race.
Five candidates have filed with Springfield's Clerk's office to run for the two contested seats on the .
All but one of the candidates vying for a three year term on the five-member board are current or former members of the Committee. Republicans Jerry Fernandez and Marc Krauss, incumbents both, are running as part of the Regular Organization Republican of Union County. David Barnett and Margaret Bandrowski are running as part of the Regular Democratic Organization of Union County. Bart Fraenkel is running as a Democratic Choice ticket.
Barnett is a former member of the Township Committee as well as the Zoning Board. Appointed to the Committee in 2009 following the death of two-term committee member Kenneth Faigenbaum, Barnett lost in the race that saw . Bandrowski is the former chair of the board of adjustment and is the president of the Springfield Historical society. If elected, she would be the first female member of the committee since , who left the committee in 2009 after declining to run for reelection.
