Jeff Rosenberg Offers Real Change on Election Day: A Chance to Break the Party Majority

Running for Township Committee in the Local Election

Jeff Rosenberg is running for a seat on the Springfield Township Committee as an Independent candidate.

Why as an Independent? Simply, partisan politics just doesn’t make any sense on the local level. Unlike state and federal elections, issues do not include immigration, abortion, gay rights, healthcare, and income tax reform. This is a small town of about 15,000. We deal with issues that are important to us: downtown redevelopment, keeping property values high, traffic patterns, turf fields and the like.

The reason why Rosenberg is running now, is because throughout the years he has seen what party politics has done in Springfield. There have been petty squabbles and disagreements, for no other reason than siding with party masters. Good ideas get delayed and the public gets annoyed. His slogan is “No Party Politics.” This year, there are two Republicans and two Democrats on the Committee. If he wins, it could very well be the only time in Springfield history that 1) an Independent won a seat, and 2) no political party had a controlling majority.

Another reason for running is because he is tired of the “stick your head in the sand” attitude. If a problem is brought up, it gets sidelined. Or if it gets looked into, and the answer is “there’s nothing we can do about it”, then it gets taken off the docket. His way of thinking is to pursue all avenues of research, review and feedback. If it’s being done well, it’s not good enough – look for a better way. If they say no, it’s not good enough – look for a solution or compromise before giving in. This strategy is what made Rosenberg successful in senior corporate management for nearly 30 years.

Since June, he began posting, on a weekly basis, to his campaign Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/JeffRosenbergforSpringfieldTownCouncil/

his thoughts, proposals and ideas regarding various issues around town. Topics already discussed or soon to be, include: Local Ordinances and Fines, Text Alerts (and/or robocalls), Online Processing, Stop 'N' Shop, Garbage & Recycling, Property Taxes, Charter Study, "Heavy" Traffic, Township Meetings, Commercial Trucks in your Driveway, Basketball Hoops, Downtown Redevelopment, Flood Mitigation, and more...

Rosenberg has lived in Springfield for over 26 years. Although for many of those years he commuted to NYC for work, every weekend was filled with little league, basketball, soccer, parades, park clean-ups and other town events with his wife and children. Now, with the kids being older, he has time to give back to the town - whether it’s working with the Seniors, or helping during township emergencies, or joining Boards, or just on various issues/events around town. Right now, Rosenberg stays busy as a member of a couple of Boards, teaching, helping his wife run their local Century 21 real estate agency (which gives him a venue to fight to keep property values high). Now, he feels lucky enough that his schedule is very flexible and he is able to give back to the community.

Besides being the only candidate that will be running a campaign without a party backing, he vows to be the only party to be running a campaign without soliciting donations, and the only candidate to be running a campaign without littering the town with unsightly signs.
