SCIENCE FICTION CLASSICS
Don't miss the Library's screening of MGM's first big-budget and very influential science fiction film. The 1956 film combined state-of-the-art special effects with a dramatic story set in the 23rd century, when humans would supposedly be travelling to distant planets and interacting with other civilizations. Starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, and "Robby the Robot." Directed by Fred M. Wilcox. 98 minutes. Rated G. Admission is free and light refreshments are served at 12:30 pm. Funding for the film program is made possible in part by the NJ State Council on the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, and by the Friends of the Springfield Public Library.
