Director Steven Spielberg's epic and haunting adventure about a disparate group of ordinary people who have otherworldly experiences and find themselves compelled to try to contact alien intelligence.  The wonderful cast includes Richard Dreyfuss, Melinda Dillon, Teri Garr, and Francois Truffaut. Rated PG. 137 minutes.  Admission is free and light refreshments are served at 12:30 pm.  Funding for the film program is made possible in part by the NJ State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, and by the Friends of the Springfield Public Library.
