Man Threatened Animal Shelter Employee With Knife: Union PD

The Union Township Animal Shelter employee, who feared for her safety, was able to lock herself inside the shelter, police said.

UNION, NJ — Union Township Police are searching for a man wanted for threatening an animal shelter employee with a knife on Thursday.

On March 28 at 9 a.m. a man went to the Union Township Animal Shelter at 980 Jefferson Ave., began making threatening comments to the female employee and showed a knife, police said.

The employee, "who feared for her safety," was able to lock herself inside the shelter, police said.

The man then left the shelter and is believed to have run away into the wooded county property behind the animal shelter, police said.

The man is described as about 5 feet 10 inches tall.
